The Year of the Economic Developer

The Mayor and City Council of Benson passed a resolution recognizing 2016 as the 90th anniversary of the International Economic Development Council and as the Year of the Economic Developer.

We are privileged here in Benson to have a Mayor and City Council that recognize the value and efforts of our organization.

SAEDG and the City of Benson continue to bring new opportunities to the Community.  In the past year we have been able to work on several projects from rezoning property for development to new business for the Benson Municipal Airport.  The Mayor and Council along with several other people and organizations continue to move the "Villages at Vigneto" project forward.  This Economic Development project will start later this year, bringing Hundreds of new jobs and Millions of dollars of investment into the Benson Community.

Once again SAEDG and our Partners would like to thank the Benson Mayor and Council for their continued support.

On Saturday April 30, 2016 I had the pleasure to participate in an Information Fair and BBQ hosted by our partner, the Bowie Chamber of Commerce, welcoming citizens of Northern Cochise County, at the Bowie Fire department.  I was representing SAEDG and shared some of the things our members are doing and other local attractions and happenings.

The day presented beautiful weather and the turn out was substantial, an estimated 300 people enjoyed the free BBQ, which was delightful and there was plenty of good food.

Citizens were able to meet our political candidates and learn about their ideas and concerns and how they will address the needs their constituents.  Present were a variety of non-profits, local organizations and agencies and local area business folks.

I enjoyed meeting a lot of wonderful people, all the candidates, especially the ladies holding up the fort in Pearce –Sunsites for their local area Non-profits. I learned that next weekend Sunsites has a Lions Breakfast and several events going on.

All in all, the event was a success. Nancy Jean Welker and her lovely group of volunteers did a great job. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful information Fair.

Bowie is named after Fort Bowie, whose ruins are a designated Historic Site.  Bowie is surrounded by mountain ranges with 300 miles of hiking trails and cool pine, fir and spruce trees. It is a small community located west of the San Simon Valley,  at the northeast foothills of the Dos Cabezas Mountains. Located on Interstate 10, just past Willcox, Arizona for the west. Bowie is a wonderful place to visit where you can enjoy nature, hiking, bird sightings in season and the beauty of the great out doors
